Vacation: how and where? || class# 12

Please vote on the poll before reading the post and re-vote at the end. I would like to see if there will be any differences in percentages. Thanks a bunch!

Every year, especially at the beginning of the year people start thinking about and planning their vacation for the summer. It can be a real hassle (especially for families) to decide how to vacation, where to go and of course the budget! Personally I choose to cruise, because I find it very convenient, great value for my money, a lot of fun and variaty.

I prefer it over a land vacation, because your vacation already starts as soon as you board the ship towards your destinations. With a land vacation you will sit in the plane or bus the whole travel duration and not do much. Also you only get to visit one destination unless you book air fare and hotels for every single place you want to visit. The cruise ship takes you to different ports and you don’t have to pack and unpack every time you get to a new place.

On the other hand some travelers would rather just stay at one place for their entire vacation. Also some travelers feel like they get better deals on air fare – hotel combo deals. However, they may not be adding meals, transportation and entertainment costs. Here is an example of the 2 in a high season month:

7 Days Bahamas Cruise
Itinerary: Baltimore, Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, Bahamas/Freeport, Baltimore
Departure dates: Jun 5, 19 2011
Prices from: $769
(incl. Accommodation, all meals, transportation, entertainment on-board)

Land vacation
Itinerary: BWI – Nassau, Bahamas
Flight to Nassau, Bahamas: $358
6-night hotel stay: $352
(Excl. meals, transportation, activities)

“Google is not just a company, it is an entirely new way of thinking…” Chris Anderson, author of The Long Tail

This week I want to put extra focus on linking, tags and content. With every blog post I need to keep reminding myself to find general and popular tags to link to my post. Since we’re talking about Google’s mission : “Organize the world‘s information and make it universally accessible and useful” this week, I’ll take it a step further. I’m using different popular search engines such as Google and Bing Also the inevitable social networks Twitter and Facebook. Alternatives are DuckDuckGo to find out which tags take you to what site. That will help me determine what people are looking for within the cruise genre and aid me to make my blog more “universally accessible and useful”.

I found John Healds successful cruise blog with 9 million readers by simply typing cruise blog in DuckDuckGo. He is Carnival cruise lines’ senior cruise director and although his blog is not number one on the page on the search engines it’s still pretty successful. I think that has to do with the blog being very personal, he’s the one writing it, pictures/videos are of or made by him so there is a level of credibility.

The most awing suite’s I’ve personally seen have been on the Allure of the Sea’s.

The incredible Owner’s Suite

The amazing Grand Suite

And finally the jaw-dropping Royal Suite
